Nowadays, many cities in China either have university towns or are in the process of building one. It seems like that building university towns has become a trend.

The advantages of university towns are quite obvious. They create a satisfactory study atmosphere, and enable universities in town to share faculties and facilities. In addition, they offer better living and study conditions for students as everything is newly established.

A coin has two sides, and so do university towns. The disadvantages of them should not e neglected. On the one hand, university towns usually cover a large area of land, so they are usually built in outskirts. The closed-circuit life in university towns makes students live in a real ivory tower, which will have a negative impact on students. On the other hand, teachers need to commute a lot between towns and old campus, which drags down teaching efficiency.
