Main role: To establish and lead the Chinese team in the delivery of its annual targets. Through providing excellent management:
·Take ownership of the development of the Unite Students’ Chinese operation in line with the overall Chinese Market Strategy building Unite Students’ brand awareness and reputation. It is anticipated that this role will also help us define what our Chinese Market Strategy should be
·Provide expertise and key liaison with internal and external stakeholders in regards to Chinese business.
·Build relationships with universities, both UK institutions and Chinese ones. This role reports to the UK’s University Partnerships Director
·Drive high quality pre and post sales customer service provision for potential and existing Chinese customers as well as 3rd party agents
·Facilitate effective communication between the Chinese agents, Universities and UK city teams to deliver excellent service to both students and their parents
Main duties
Managerial & Supervisory:
·Manage and develop members of the team
·Coach and mentor team members and support the creation of a coaching culture
·Manage and plan resource levels, holiday and recruitment, to ensure appropriate staff are available to meet demands
·Work effectively with core support functions, developing trusting and effective working relationships, to include:
·Human Resources (resourcing, learning and development, employee relations) to manage recruitment, people management, succession planning and training requirements
·Student Experience functions (marketing, brand, higher education engagement, intelligence, business development, operations standards, emergency contact centre, national contact centre and communications) in order to deliver an outstanding customer experience within the area
Customer Service Support:
·Oversee the performance of the team, ensuring the provision of an effective pre and post-sales support service to potential and existing Chinese customers, their parents, 3rd party agents and universities
·Responsible for the achievement of service targets
·Ensure the delivery of customer service best practice within the team
Client Relationship Support & Management:
·Act as key liaison and central point of contact for all UK universities, Chinese universities and 3rd party Chinese agents
·Assisting universities and agents in a professional and courteous manner, communicating effectively, showing empathy and responding with urgency to agent requests
·Work with the agents to identify when they will visit the UK and to organise trips to visit our Unite properties.
·Conduct annual agent and university reviews to ensure the quality of our brand and reputation is maintained or enchanced.
Business Development Support & Reporting:
·Proactively build Chinese network through profile raising activities, relationship building and marketing targeting universities and 3rd party agents
·Provide significant input into the Chinese Market Strategy work with the UK Marketing team to develop and deliver associated marketing action plans and materials
·Identify and develop additional University and 3rd party agency partnerships
·Accurately maintain the database of University and 3rd party agent contacts, ensuring all contact information is up-to-date
Delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
·Progress against KPI’s to be reported to UK line manager on a weekly basis.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience & Personal attributes:
Essential:
·Educated to degree level or equivalent (ideally having studied in the UK)
·Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and English
·Established knowledge of Chinese business and culture, either as a Chinese national or having worked in China for a prolonged period
·Multi-disciplinary management-level experience including contact centre/ customer service, administration, marketing and business development (both B2B and B2C)
·Multi-disciplinary team management experience within a customer facing environment, including performance management, people development, coaching or mentoring experience
·Demonstrable success in developing and managing relationships with support functions, stakeholders and third party suppliers
·Demonstrable financial and commercial awareness
·Excellent computer literacy, and the ability to use Microsoft Office
·Possesses a willingness to undertake challenging tasks to ensure customer satisfaction
·Ability to offer flexibility in working hours
·Self-motivated and possessing the ability to work on own initiative as well as within a team
·Able and willing to undertake national and international travel
